February Match Reports

Februarys games have again been really successful for the lads of Garswood under 9s.The lads won all 3 of the their games taking their winning run to 9 games.

GAME 1 3/2/07 Cromwell (away)
This game was a real six pointer with both teams in the promotion battle. The Garswood lads showed a fantastic team spirit and battled for every ball as if it was a cup final. By half time the lads were 1-0 up thanks to Robert Green.
In the second half there was only one team going to win this game as Garswood totally dominated and scored two more goals thanks to James Brewer and Keelan Greenhalgh
Man of the Match went to our ever-reliable keeper Perry Manning.

GAME 2 17/2/07 Winwick (home)
With last weeks game postponed the Garswood lads looked really rusty in this game. I think anyone who was at this game would agree this was probably their worst performance of the season so far.
But the good thing for us was the lads managed a 3-2 win thanks to goals from Reece Naylor and Keelan Greeenhalgh and a last minute own goal.
Man of the Match went to one of our defenders who had to work overtime today – Bradley Brown.

GAME 3 24/2/07 Piranhas (home)
The final game of the month was a last 16 cup game against Piranahs FC.
Following last week’s poor performance Garswood knew they would have to really lift their game if they wanted a place in the last 8.
From the first minute it was obvious the lads were up for this one and eventually ran out 3-0 winnners, thanks to goals from Ross Pilling, Keelan Greenhalgh and James Mitchell.
Man of the Match went to James Mitchell who led his team brilliantly.

SUMMARY
We have scored 9 goals this month and conceded just 2, we are still at the top of the table and in the last 8 of the cup.
Our leading scores are James Brewer with 12 goals and Reece Naylor With 11.
Come on lads keep up the good work.

Under 12 Squad Manager Tony Dolan is pictured with Mark Ward, Managing Director of CM Florists Limited, Station Road, Garswood.

Mark has recently sponsored a new kit for the boys of Tony’s squad and is one of a number of community businesses who have pledged their support for the Club in its aims to work alongside local organisations and businesses in order to improve relationships and foster Community Partnerships. Naturally we would encourage our members to support Mark and his company when in need of floral arrangements.
