Health & Safety Guidelines

At Seneley & Garswood Juniors Football Club we are fully aware of our responsibility and duty to ensure that Club Members train and play their fixtures in a safe, secure environment.

The following procedures must be adhered to:

• A minimum of two adults must be present at all Club related activities.
• At least one adult must hold an Emergency First Aid qualification.
• A fully stocked first aid kit must be available.
• A mobile phone or access to a land line must be available in case of emergency.

Outdoors:

Before training commences the Coach should walk over the training area to ensure that there are no unsafe obstacles e.g. broken glass, dog waste, pot holes, hollows etc. By walking the area he/she can quickly assess if it is safe for players to use the facility.

• The Coach will identify areas where players should avoid.
• If playing or training near water then an adult should be sent to retrieve the ball from the water.
• Where the ball is inaccessible, leave it.
• Under no circumstances must any person wade into water.

Indoors:

Again the Coaches should make themselves familiar with the surrounding area:

• He/she should identify where players should not stand or sit e.g. behind doors or on window ledges.
• In sports halls players sould refrain from sitting on top of wall bars while games are taking place below
• In the eyes of the law the Coach is fully responsible for the health and safety of the players.
• It is advisable that the Coach make a note of any potential hazards which have clearly been identified and the measures taken to reduce risk.
• Any identified hazards must be reported to the owner of the facility.

In order to reduce risk of injury or accident players must also be advised to wear shin guards and appropriate footwear at all times.
They must not be allowed to participate in any Club activity if they or their parents choose to ignore the above.

All accidents must be reported on a Club Accident/Incident Report Form and forwarded immediately to the Club Secretary who shall keep one copy on file and forward a copy to the parent/guardian of the injured member.
