Club History
In February 2001 we were one of thirty five clubs in the country to achieve what was then a new initiative introduced by The Football Association, The Charter Standard. With this new initiative the Football Association’s aim is to improve every aspect of grassroots football, with great emphasis on Child Protection and Equality.
During this process The F.A. looked at every aspect of our Club from administration through to disciplinary procedures. We worked extremely hard to meet the criteria and of the thirty-five clubs who originally participated in the pilot scheme we were one of only eight to achieve the higher of the two awards available, Charter Standard Development Club. We also have the distinction of becoming the first Merseyside Club to attain this prestigious honour. Three years later, almost to the day, we became the first Merseyside Club to attain Charter Standard Community Club status.
Thus began what can only be considered to be a golden age in the Clubs history. In 2004 the Club was also recognised by Liverpool County Football Association as Charter Standard Community Club Of The Year while Rick Mitchell was named as Coach Of The Year. Club Secretary Tom Nugent was recognised as County F.A. Administrator Of The Year and went on to receive the North West Regional Award from The Football Association. In the same year the Club received The St. Helens District Sports Council Sports Club Of The Year Award and subsequently The Merseyside Sports Partnership Merseyside Sports Club Of The Year Award.
In 2005 the Club was once again named as Liverpool County Football Association Charter Standard Community Club Of The Year and remarkably made in three in a row when, in 2006, during the course of its 25 Year Anniversary, it was honoured once again with the same award along with The St. Helens District Sports Council Sports Club of The Year, The Merseyside Sports Partnership Merseyside Sports Club Of The Year and to end a fantastic year, in December, at the prestigious BBC Television North West Sports Awards evening held at the Hilton Hotel, Manchester, was named as Sport England North West Community Sports Club Of The Year.
With so many youngsters in our care we have both a social and moral responsibility toward them. To this end we have adopted The Football Association Code of Conduct procedures, which covers every aspect of conduct from players, parents, Team Managers, coaching and administration personnel. We also have a stringent disciplinary policy; this also covers all parties within the Club.
From the beginning our aim has been to provide as many children as possible with an introduction to and the opportunity to participate, at some level, in our national game in a safe, friendly and sporting environment, regardless of ability, disability, race colour or creed. As members of Seneley & Garswood Juniors Football Club we aim to give children and adults alike something that they will remember, cherish and be proud of as they progress through life.
Over the years we feel that we have achieved our aims but will always endeavour to strive for continuous improvement at all levels in achieving our ambitions, not only for the benefit of our members but for the community in general.
